Eye of the Storm

from Every Seven by Milburn & Vigoda

/

about

This is our most recent song from the DiPietro/Brendan Milburn/Valerie Vigoda musical, ERNEST SHACKLETON LOVES ME. Now that Ernest actually appears on stage with Kat, we needed to give him a song. And as he and Kat go on the voyage of the Endurance together, Ernest sings this to Kat in quiet moment, as a hurricane descends upon them.

lyrics

dry your eyes, there's my dear
never mind where you are, only know you are here
in the eye of the storm

now chin up, take my hand
you may be far from home, but you're safe on dry land
in the eye of the storm

never mind that you're out on the edge of the earth
and it seems like you'll never succeed
when you think that you're down, fight for all that you're worth,
and you'll find that you have all the strength that you need

if you can't catch a break,
hunker down, soldier on, now your task is to make
those you love safe and warm

don't regret what has been
let it go, for we'll never be right here again.
who needs sleep?
breathe in deep
be the calm in the eye of the storm.
